Kit Instruction Course
Overview
A four hour training programme aimed at company representatives who will be responsible for conducting drug and alcohol testing on site. SYNLAB instruction training will provide individuals with protocols to ensure that both donor and collecting officer are protected from any claims of bias or cheating, should a result be contested. The course ensures that procedures are being followed correctly and consistently when administering collections.
This course will cover the sample collection procedures using the Dräger electronic breathalyser unit and near donor testing (NDT) instant testing device and / or chain of custody (CoC) kit.
Delegates do not need to be medically trained but must receive adequate training prior to sample collection. It is recommended that a competent person be certified at each company location to provide 24 hour coverage.
This course does involve each delegate to complete practical assessments to demonstrate their competency and understanding of the procedures.

All employees at supervisory level who will be responsible for collecting samples for Drug and Alcohol testing purposes, either for Pre-Employment testing or in For Cause instances.

To understand the concept of employment drug & alcohol testing and be familiar with testing procedures and current industry best practice.
To prepare a site ready for testing to commence and beware of the precautions to take to avoid sample adulteration.
To competently collect a breath sample and saliva/urine/hair sample in line with the company policy using approved testing devices.
To follow the collection procedure correctly and consistently to deliver legally defensible results and understand why such procedures are put in place.
To produce records on completed tests and apply the policy in the event of non-negative results using the company disciplinary procedure.
To raise awareness of recalibration / re-order requirements and how to access the service.
To answer frequently asked questions.
Certificates will be issued to all delegates who attend the course
and successfully complete the training.
