 Kit Instruction Course


Overview  

 

A two hour training programme aimed at company representatives who will be responsible for conducting drug / alcohol testing on site. SYNLAB instruction training will provide individuals with protocols to ensure that both donor and collecting officer are protected from any claims of bias or cheating, should a result be contested. The course ensures that procedures are being followed correctly and consistently when administering collections.   

 

This interactive course mixes practical sessions with theory, and delegates will be expected to demonstrate their full understanding of all processes and procedures by successfully collecting a breath sample / using the drug testing kit, and completing a knowledge check. 

 

SYNLAB Laboratory Services can cover sample collection procedures using the Dräger electronic alcotester, disposable breathalyser kit, urine or saliva NDT kit, and urine or saliva CoC kit. 

 

Delegates do not need to be medically trained but must receive adequate training prior to sample collection. It is recommended that a competent person be certified at each company location to provide 24 hour coverage. 

 

Course Objectives 

 

All employees at supervisory level who will be responsible for collecting samples  for Drug and Alcohol testing purposes, either for Pre-Employment testing or in For Cause instances. 

 

Course Objectives 

 

  • To understand the concept of workplace drug / alcohol testing and be familiar with testing procedures and current industry best practice. 

 

  • To prepare a site ready for testing to commence. 

 

  • To competently collect a sample in line with the company policy using approved testing devices. 

 

  • To produce records on completed tests and apply the policy in the event of non-negative results using the company disciplinary procedure. 

 

  • To raise awareness of recalibration / re-order requirements and how to access the service.  

 

 

Certificates will be issued to all delegates who attend the course  

and successfully complete the training.
